What Surfaces Can Spiders Not Climb?
WouterA spider is a tricky little critter, but that doesn’t mean they’re inept at climbing. They can climb a wide range of surfaces, but there are certain ones they don’t touch.
For instance, you cannot climb out of a bathtub or bath. In fact, it would be a pain to do so. However, you can climb up a fence. But that’s about as far as it goes.
As for what they can’t do, the spider is probably the most limiting critter. While they can climb all solid blocks, they can’t touch or climb Nether portal blocks. You’ll also find that they are not suited for sheer vertical surfaces, or those that are too smooth. Also, you can’t climb up a cactus wall. And as for climbing a lava wall, you’ll get burned.
One thing you can do is build a lava wall. Lava walls are a great way to keep spiders away, if you can keep them from getting to the lava in the first place. Another option is to build an ice wall. The walls can be awe-inspiring, but the smoky mess they make isn’t so fun.
Lastly, you can use a combination of natural products to keep your arachnid friends at bay. These include a host of herbs and spices, and a bit of Glowstone. So long as you’re not in a hurry to kill them, you can take comfort in knowing that you’re keeping them at bay.
