Open rubbish bags are a common fly bait, but there are many other things that flies love. Here are five things you may not have thought of that attract flies. Keep these things away from your home or business to avoid unwanted guests. It is important to be aware of what flies like to feed on.

Food and drink: Flies love rotting food and liquids. Make sure you keep your kitchen and outdoor spaces clean to keep these creatures at bay. Keeping trash can lids tightly closed is another way to keep out flies. Open bottles and containers of alcohol are also attractive to flies.

Animal feces and rotting organic matter attract flies. Don’t leave food out overnight. Empty garbage cans regularly. Wipe down the outside of garbage cans. If you’re having a barbecue or an outdoor picnic, make sure you close the windows and wipe down the trash cans afterward. Also, keep an eye out for holes in your window screens.

Houseflies are part of the insect order Diptera. These bugs are commonly found near humans and other animals and reproduce quickly. They are also attracted to sugar and other sticky materials.
