Why Does Cockroach Die Upside Down?

If you have ever seen a cockroach die upside down, you’ve probably wondered why it did it. It’s not an unusual phenomenon, with thousands of species of cockroach dying this way. The main reason is the insecticide the cockroach has been exposed to, which causes their muscles to spasm and paralysis to set in.

Cockroaches have very long legs, and a high center of gravity. These characteristics allow them to manage their rounded backs very well, but as they age, their muscles weaken and it becomes harder to correct their position. So, when they die upside down, they pretend to be dead until they are picked up by a human.

However, cockroaches appear to be more complex than we previously thought. In fact, there’s some evidence that these insects have feelings. Many of them have a sense of companionship and may even return to their dead comrades. Cockroaches may even have a sense of revenge.

If you’ve tried applying insecticide and cockroaches are still alive, you should collect them and dispose of them properly. It could take up to two weeks for them to die completely. This is because the pesticides are still working on them.
