Do Cockroach Baits Really Work?

Cockroach baits are designed to reduce the number of live roaches. They can also eliminate dead cockroaches. However, when using these products, the bait should not be thrown away; it should be disposed of properly because dead cockroaches can pass the bait on to live cockroaches. The best way to use cockroach bait is to place it in strategic locations around your house. It is important to replace the bait after a month or two.

Cockroach baits are available in stores and on the Internet. Some of them come in plastic stations that you simply place in the area where you want to kill the roaches. Others are applied with a large plastic syringe. Popular consumer brands include Combat, Raid, Ortho, and Hotshot. There are also professional cockroach baits such as Maxforce, Advance, Avert, and Alpine. These products contain various ingredients that are known to work well against cockroaches.

To get rid of cockroaches, you should find the exact places where they set up their nests. Then, use a cockroach bait to control the existing population and eliminate the nests. Alternatively, you can also use a natural insecticide, such as diatomaceous earth.

Another option is a gel that is applied in small cracks and crevices. This method is known as a “crack-and-crevice” treatment. Once the roaches eat the bait, they will carry it back to their nest and spread the poison around.
