Wasps Rugby Players Test Positive For Coronavirus

Those involved with Wasps rugby have been in shock after their camp was inundated with coronavirus tests. They have been on high alert after the second largest outbreak in the Premiership. The situation could get worse with the showpiece match against Exeter coming up.

Wasps have made 13 changes to their starting line-up. Thomas Young is the man of the moment, replacing Nizaam Carr at No 8. Jimmy Gopperth moves into the number 10 shirt, while Luke Mehson takes the place of Josh Bassett. Brad Shields will partner Tim Cardall at second row. Those involved with the academy have also tested positive for banned substances.

There are two scenarios in play, one where Wasps’ place in the Premiership final is taken by Bristol, and the other where the two teams face off in a revised final at Twickenham on Saturday. The winner will face Toulon in Aix-en-Provence.

Wasps had a coronavirus outbreak last week. Their players have been self-isolating and no training has taken place since last Wednesday. Public Health England have advised the club to stop training until further testing is conducted.

Wasps have tested seven players for the coronavirus. There have been three more positive tests. The Medical team have self-isolated the positive tests and followed Public Health England’s guidelines. The results of these tests are due tomorrow.

Wasps’ medical team is currently investigating the problem. They are preparing to test their entire playing squad for the disease. The outcome of this will determine whether Wasps will be able to participate in the final against Exeter.
