Things That Silverfish Eat Clothes?

Silverfish are small insects, usually half an inch or less in length. They have a carrot shaped body and slippery grey scales. Their mouthparts scrape edible material from a variety of surfaces.

There are several things that silverfish eat, but their favorite food is paper. However, they also nibble at cloth, such as linen and silk.

One of the best ways to prevent an infestation is to keep your laundry away from silverfish. Keeping your clothes in sealed containers, such as plastic storage bags, is a good idea. If you have a basement or shed, it is a good idea to move your laundry to these locations.

Aside from spotting the eggs, you need to find out if the silverfish are dead or alive. Adults will not be as picky as their larvae.
