To help combat this problem, you can place tarps over the ground to trap moisture and prevent water from seeping into the soil. You can also stack firewood on racks to let air flow under it.

Alternatively, you can sprinkle diatomaceous earth in the areas where you have seen silverfish. Diatomaceous earth is naturally occurring and non-toxic to humans. It is made from the fossilized remains of aquatic organisms known as diatoms. This substance helps remove the waxy coating that makes silverfish insects so attractive.

Another way to eliminate silverfish infestations is to regularly hoover and dust your house. Silverfish feed on dust, paper, and debris, so regular dusting is essential.

Silverfish can be hard to catch and eliminate once they have found their way into your home. In addition to eating paper, they can chew holes in clothing and damaged fabrics.

If you’ve already seen one or two silverfish, you don’t have a large infestation. If you’ve noticed several, though, you could be dealing with a bigger problem.
