How to Get Rid of Silverfish

These little pests can easily be eliminated if you know how. There are a few different ways you can do this.
First, you need to find a way to prevent silverfish from getting into your home. This can be done by sealing any leaks you may have, avoiding standing water, and removing any old water sources. You should also keep all food and other items in airtight containers.
Second, you can use traps to kill silverfish. These traps can be made out of things you have around the house. Some examples of traps include jars filled with torn up bread or bread scraps. If you have textured tape, you can make a pitfall style trap.
Third, you can kill silverfish with boric acid. Boric acid is an insecticide that is toxic if it is inhaled. Boric acid can be sprayed into crevices or into holes. It is not a good option for kitchens because it can be dangerous to ingest.
Fourth, you can spray essential oils on areas that are a likely target for silverfish. Essential oils are natural and nontoxic. To prevent an infestation, you can add some drops to a large bottle of water and then spray the oil onto areas that are susceptible to infestation.
