Where to Release a Rat
It is imperative that you decide on the best place to release a rat after you have trapped it. The rat should be released in an area with water and food sources. If possible, try to release the rat in a rural area where there are no other homes. In case you cannot do this, you should seal your home and make it rat-proof. This includes sealing any holes and gaps.
If this is not possible, you can hire a professional rat trapper. This is an environment-friendly and self-respecting way to get rid of rats and mice. In this way, the animal will die and not be able to escape back into your home. However, there are several pros and cons to this method.
First, the area should have a steady source of water. The temperature should not be too cold or too warm. If it is too cold, the rat may have a hard time digging through a wet surface. Keeping the temperature around 4 degrees Celsius is optimal for rats. Otherwise, the animals may not survive.
Keeping a trap in a safe place is also important. You should check it at least hourly. You should also disable it in cold weather. When you are ready to release the rat, make sure you remove the trap and set it out at least one hundred yards away from where it was caught.
