Do Rats Work Alone?
Rats are a very social species and live in packs. They start a pack with one male and a female and it grows over time. Some packs have one dominant male, while others have multiple dominant males. If you have rats in your home, you must handle them in a special way.
To get into your home, rats will go through holes in the walls or floors. They will make circular holes about two to three inches in diameter. They usually make these holes a few inches off the floor. They also leave a distinctive musk odor. Using smoke bombs can be a great solution to this problem.
Rat control is a complex issue and requires the help of the entire neighborhood. Rather than trying to trap and kill rats, the goal should be to prevent them from returning. Make sure you keep trash disposed in rat-resistant containers and repair any areas where rats can find shelter. Also, make sure you seal any holes that they use to enter the building.
If you have many rats, it is best to use snap traps instead of poisons. Snap traps are safe and quick kills. To avoid harming other animals, you should put the traps in a milk crate or box. Using peanut butter as bait is also an excellent choice. It is cheap and pleasant smelling. But as with any pest control method, it’s important to experiment in your own yard to find what works best.
