When Does Flies Come Out?
Flies often come out during the summer months and lay their eggs in garbage. Especially if you have meat and vegetable scraps lying around, they can breed in as little as a week. After laying their eggs, they crawl away to pupate in dark areas. If you notice them crawling around, you can vacuum them up and catch the flies before they come out.
After the final moult, adult flies enter the pupa stage. This stage is characterized by the absence of wings and legs. The adult flies develop a cocoon-like shell. Once this stage is complete, the flies emerge with wings, antennae, and legs.
Flies do not hibernate in freezing temperatures, so they need shelter and food. If you see flies in your house, they’re looking for someplace warm to hide. Some species, such as cluster flies, will also seek out a warm place. This species isn’t harmful and will only stay away if the temperatures rise, but you may still notice their presence when temperatures rise.
When the summer months arrive, the flies come out in large numbers. They prefer warm, moist locations. You can spot them in large groups on your walls, and they look for cracks or spaces to hide. They can also make their way into attics and basements. Common entry points include light fixtures and baseboards.
