Choosing What Flies For Pink Salmon

If you’re looking to catch pink salmon on the fly, there are several factors to consider. Pink salmon are mainly found below the surface, so you want to use bright pink flies. You’ll also need to use a heavier-gauge hook. Lighter-gauge wire is not durable enough to stand the strain of the constant pressure pink salmon put on the line.

The first thing to consider when choosing the right salmon fly is its size. Choose one with a large, bright color and that will swim well in softer water. Another good choice is a giant stonefly. These have large, highly veined wings and eyes on either side of the head.
