Where Do Cockroaches Lay Eggs?

Female cockroaches tend to lay their eggs near food and water sources, so cleaning up this area should be a priority. The location of a cockroach nest is also important, as cockroaches prefer a warm, humid environment. A few of them are based on misconceptions about the egg sac.
The American roach will lay up to 14 egg cases during her lifetime. The incubation period of these eggs depends on the temperature, but they can take anywhere from 37 to 103 days to hatch. The female cockroach will carry the egg casing around for up to 24 hours, after which she will deposit it into a dark, secure place. It will not leave the casing alone, but it will use a secretion called an ootheca to deposit her egg casing.
