Can Camphor Kill Cockroaches?

If you are trying to kill cockroaches in your home, you might have heard about camphor. This is a natural insect repellent that is often used in household cleaning products. The scent of camphor is extremely strong and repels roaches. Nevertheless, it’s not as effective as other repellents, such as peppermint and citronella oils.

However, this solution is not recommended for use around food preparation areas where people might be exposed to the fumes. However, camphor does work well in keeping cockroaches out of closed containers. Just make sure that the container is tightly sealed to prevent the fumes from escaping.

Camphor may also be effective against rice weevils and some other insect pests. It blocks the development of egg and immature stages inside rice kernels, and inhibits the emergence of progeny. The activity of camphor comes from the chemical compounds it contains and the combination of the components. However, it does not work for other pests such as ants and spider mites.

Another effective roach control product is baking soda. This chemical kills roaches and is effective against both adult and egg stages. This product can be purchased at most home improvement stores or online.
