What to Do When Bed Bugs Bite You
Having to spend countless hours in bed and being unable to sleep can be a terrible experience. Not only do you not get the rest you need, you can also experience symptoms of sleep deprivation such as anxiety, depression, and thoughts of suicide. Sleep deprivation can also affect your cognitive ability, making it difficult to complete tasks at work or school. Furthermore, it can impair your motor skills, making you unfit to operate heavy machinery. Not to mention the time, money, and energy you will use for trying to exterminate bed bugs.
The first sign of a bed bug infestation is the presence of bite marks. These bite marks are red and itchy. You may also notice red discolorations in the area. In some cases, bedbug bites are very painful. Fortunately, most bites are treatable. However, in some cases, the itchiness and redness caused by a bedbug infestation will result in an infection.
The itching caused by bed bugs will typically last for about one to two weeks. In more severe cases, the bites may also be accompanied by swelling, redness, and even bruising. The severity of the reaction will vary from person to person, depending on the severity of the infestation. However, it is important to note that bed bug bites are not like mosquito bites.
Bites from bedbugs may be a little difficult to detect, but once they’ve settled in, you can start looking for visible signs. They may look like tiny red or pink papules that form a line or path across your skin. Most often, these bites appear in groups of three and are clustered together in one area of the body.
