How Do Bed Bugs Look?

The most obvious sign is the presence of small, reddish brown fecal spots on furniture, mattresses, and even walls. You can also look for small, itchy bites. However, these don’t necessarily mean that you have bedbugs, as you might also notice other kinds of bug bites.
Bedbugs are small insects that are often mistaken for other bugs, including mosquitoes. The adults of this pest are about a quarter-inch long, and their bodies are reddish brown. They have six legs, and they can hide in crevices. Bedbug nymphs are smaller than adults and are whitish-yellow or translucent.
Eggs of the bed bug are white or near-white. If the color of the egg changes, it may be an indicator that the bed bug has already died or has changed its genetic makeup. In an ideal environment, you should be able to see the egg easily. But if your eyesight is poor, you might need to use a magnifying glass to see it clearly.
A baby bedbug may look similar to a cockroach nymph. Similarly, bat bugs and booklouse nymphs look similar. The key difference is that booklouse isn’t a parasite and doesn’t feed on human blood. They are scavengers and do not bite humans.
