Bed Bugs – Can Bed Bugs Return After Treatment?
Despite the best efforts of a pest control professional, some cases of bed bug infestation do not show a permanent cure. These bed bugs may return weeks or even months after the treatment was completed. This could be because the pesticide used failed to penetrate the eggs, which are usually buried in cracks and crevices.
The best way to get rid of bed bugs permanently is to use an encasement, which traps and kills bed bugs. However, if your home is a multi-unit complex, you cannot do anything about the infestation in adjacent units. Alternatively, you can hire a bed bug sniffer dog, which has an acute sense of smell and can identify the areas where bed bugs hide.
Besides applying an insecticide on bed bugs, you should also perform a thorough cleaning in the affected area. Ideally, you should focus on the areas where bed bugs were discovered. Once these areas have been cleaned, you should go back to cleaning them regularly. In addition, you should wash your bedsheets regularly and buy a bed bug-proof mattress cover.
If the problem is larger, hiring a pest control company is a good idea. A professional will be able to apply heat treatment, which kills most of the bugs. However, larger infestations may require multiple treatments.
