Ants

Why Are Ants in My House in the Winter?

Having ants in your house during the winter can be a scary situation. The insects may be active and swarming, but they can also be hidden in cabinets, floor and wall spaces. If you find ants in your house, this can be a sign that you have an established colony inside your house.

In addition to the ants in your house, there are other pests that may be seeking warmth and shelter. The cold weather can help ants get back to their natural state of hibernation.

While most ants will not infest your home during the winter, there are some common signs that you may have an ant infestation. These include a large number of ants, ants swarming around your trash cans, ants on your windows and walls, and ants in the kitchen.

If you have ants in your house during the winter, they probably are a part of an overwintering ant colony. They are trying to keep the queen warm during the cold weather.

They may also be searching for food. If they can’t find any, they might go elsewhere. The best way to avoid an ant infestation is to keep your home clean and remove clutter. Keep your floors and cabinets clean and use a special ant repellent. If you can’t remove the pests, use a product such as Griffin to help get rid of the pests.

Ants can be found in many different locations during the summer. The kitchen and the pantry are common places for an ant infestation. If you have ants in your kitchen, you should keep your food in the refrigerator and remove any crumbs from the floor.
