The ants’ body is divided into three sections. The abdomen contains the vital organs. The petiole has a single node, but it is covered by the abdomen. The antennae are two slender, pointed rods. Each has a joint at the midpoint. They are used to detect food and pheromones.
Some ants are known to feed on sweets and fats. They can be found in hospitals, restaurants, and other areas where humans eat. They are difficult to control. They can also be found in surgical wounds.
Other species of ants are known to be beneficial predators on other insects. They are known to kill other insects by using sickle-shaped jaws. These insects are sometimes known as “amazon ants”.
Acrobat ants vary in color from light brown to reddish brown to black. Their heart-shaped abdomen is attractive to sweets and honeydew produced by other insects.
Ants have been around for over 100 million years. They are small insects, with 10 segmented antennae. They are found in many locations around the world. They are not a major problem in most environments. They can be annoying, but do not pose any direct threat to humans.
