How to Remove Why Ants on Peonies

During the flowering stage of a peony, there are ants present that are attracted to the sugary substance that is produced by the buds. These insects are not dangerous and do not harm the peony. However, they can be a nuisance. Luckily, there are ways to remove ants from peonies without hurting them.

First, you can get rid of the ants by shaking the peonies. Holding the stem below the flower and shaking it back and forth can easily remove the insects. Another option is to rinse the flowers. If you want to avoid rinsing the petals, you can soak the buds in warm tap water. This will discourage the ants from establishing themselves in the petals.

The other option is to dip the peony in water. This will discourage the ants from getting established in the petals and encourage the blooming process. You can also spray the blossoms with the garden hose. But remember, spraying the flowers with insecticide will harm beneficial insects.

Ants are attracted to the sugary nectar that is produced by the peony buds. The ants feed on the sugary substance and protect the buds. Once the ants have completed their task, they will leave the flower.

You can also remove ants from the peony by running the buds under warm tap water. You can also rinse the ants off the peonies if you want to use them indoors. You can also shake the buds to dislodge them.
