Getting rid of small ants is a problem that can be solved by many home remedies. They can be found in most homes. Ants can enter your home through doorways, crevices, and foundation cracks. Ants are opportunistic eaters. They will find crumbs and moisture and establish a nest. These ants will leave trails of pheromones that are attractive to other ant species.

You can apply diatomaceous earth to ant infestations to kill them. This is a naturally occurring substance made from fossilized phytoplankton. Diatomaceous earth has sharp edges that are effective in cutting through ants’ exoskeletons. It is nontoxic and can be purchased online and at most home improvement stores. It is also used as an insect repellent.

Another effective home remedy for killing ants is boric acid powder. Boric acid is made of boron and water. Boric acid is low in toxicity to humans, but it can be toxic to pets.

Another effective ant deterrent is cayenne pepper. This can be applied in a small amount to walls and corners to drive ants away. You can also place whole cloves around the kitchen and other areas where ants are hanging out.

Using an ant spray is also an effective way to kill them. Make sure the ant spray contains bifenthrin, a pyrethroid insecticide. This will kill other insects as well as the ants.

Another nontoxic home remedy is to make a solution of vinegar and water. This can be used to kill ants on any surface.
