Queens must mate with as many males as possible. After mating, the ants will break off their wings. They will then have to start a new colony. In some species, the wings are eaten or ripped off by the queen.
Worker ants, on the other hand, do not have wings. They mainly search for food and collect it for the colony. They are usually only able to survive for a few months after the queen dies.
The first generation of offspring, or the workers, care for the queen and her babies. They are also called attendants. They clean the queen and pampered her.
A queen can live for as long as 15 years. They usually have a large gaster for egg production. They are also twice the size of worker ants. It is important for the queen to have a good nest location for her young. It’s also necessary for her to have room for the eggs to develop.
