Wasps Payroll – How Much Do Wasps Players Earn?

Until recently Wasps’ top earner was New Zealander Lima Sopoaga. Now Malakai Fekitoa leads the pack.

It was a big year for Wasps. They won six league titles, a European Rugby Challenge Cup, and a European Rugby Super Cup. They were the first English club to win back-to-back English Championships in the new professional era. They were also beaten in the semi-finals of the Amlin Cup by the eventual winners, the Cardiff Blues, and in the quarter-finals by Gloucester.

The club was bought by a wealthy individual and has invested in facilities and infrastructure, and the players. Several of these players have returned to Wasps, while several others are looking for new clubs.

The club has also entered administration, and a number of players are looking for new clubs. They were hopeful a swift solution would be found. The club is expected to be relegated into the Championship.

Several of Wasps’ marquee players are earning over PS400k a year. However, this doesn’t mean they have to be included in the salary cap. The club’s academy players earn PS15-25k a year, depending on the academy year.

Wasps are a part of the Loftus Road Holdings PLC, which also owns Queens Park Rangers F.C., and several smaller companies. The administrators confirmed there were some employees retained to support an ‘orderly wind down’.

The club is set to enter administration in the next few days. It is not known who owns Wasps Holdings Limited, or how much the company pays players and staff.
