Bees and Wasps Don’t Kill Hummingbirds

Despite what you may have heard, bees and wasps don’t actually kill hummingbirds. Instead, they compete for food and nectar. This can be harmful for hummingbirds.

Wasps and bees prefer the nectar from flowers. However, it’s not their first choice of food. They will look for other sources of nectar, such as hummingbird feeders. This can cause a hummingbird to starve to death.

The best way to keep bees and wasps away from your hummingbird feeders is to install measures that block their access to the feeder. These can include bee guards, which sit over the feeding tubes.
