If you find termites, you should try a liquid treatment. Depending on the type of termites, you can use termiticides. Some are granular and contain imidacloprid or fipronil. Others contain d-limonene, which is poisonous to termites.

If you do not want to use chemicals, you can use essential oils. These can be found in specialty stores or online. For instance, orange oil is a powerful termite deterrent. You can spray it on infested wood or add it to dish soap.

Another way to kill termites is to use nematodes. These microscopic parasitic worms are known to be very effective termite killers. You can also buy nematodes in your local garden supply store. They are long-lived and will release bacteria into the termite colony.
