Can I Use Bug Spray on Termites?
Termites are wood-destroying insects that can leave behind a distinctive mark on your home. Fortunately, there are ways to get rid of them without having to call in a pest control specialist. The first step is to identify the insect responsible for the infestation.
If you find that you are infested by flying ants or flying termites, you may be able to use fly spray to kill them. However, you’ll likely be unsuccessful if you’re trying to kill a colony of termites.
If you don’t want to spend a fortune on a chemical treatment, you can also try to eliminate the problem by hand. In the past, people have used a spray called Termidor Foam to kill termites in cracks. These types of sprays have the advantage of being odorless, so you can spray them inside the house.
Another option is to place a barrier along the perimeter of your home. This method doesn’t kill the termites immediately, but it creates a protective barrier around your house that kills the termites over time.
Alternatively, you can treat the area with a liquid barrier. Typically, this method is applied in a trench around the perimeter of your house. The chemical is injected into the soil, where it is absorbed into the roots of plants. This makes it difficult for the termites to get back to the colony.
Depending on the type of insecticide, you can spray it into the air or apply it to surfaces. Using these two methods, you can effectively target the insects’ nervous systems.
