Spider-Man: No Way Home
“Spider-Man: No Way Home” has continued to blaze a trail across the box office. Its final weekend in theaters brought in $260 million, making it the second biggest American opening of all time. That’s compared to the first weekend of Avengers: Endgame, which raked in a whopping $858 million domestically.
Spider-Man: No Way Home has also smashed several benchmarks, including the highest ever for Sony. It’s also the sixth highest-grossing movie of all time worldwide. This means it’s now on par with other major films, like “Avatar,” “The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug,” and “Black Panther.”
No Way Home is set to continue dominating the American box office. It is expected to make more than $18 million in its 15th weekend, putting it on track for its third week at the top of the domestic leaderboards. That would tie with the opening of “Ghostbusters: Afterlife” and “Venom: Let There Be Carnage.”
“No Way Home” is a Marvel Cinematic Universe film, starring Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Zendaya as MJ, and Jacob Batalon as Ned. It was written and directed by Jon Watts. It is co-produced by Marvel Studios and Columbia Pictures.
Its global gross of $1.9 billion makes it the sixth-biggest film of all time, and it’s one of only two films to break $1 billion in global box office. That makes it the first pandemic-era movie to hit that milestone. It’s now inching closer to becoming the third film to reach the $800 million mark, behind Avengers: Infinity War and “The Last Jedi.”
Even though No Way Home isn’t playing in China, it’s still generating some strong numbers overseas. In fact, it is the highest-grossing non-Chinese-released movie of all time.
