This molecule could be used as a drug to stop heart cells from dying after a heart attack. Researchers say that if they can develop a way to block this message, they can reduce cell death and prevent long-term damage to heart cells.

The University of Queensland’s research team has been working to identify a molecule that could be used to prevent heart attack. They discovered IB001 last year. That molecule is currently being tested on human heart cells.

Researchers hope to have the drug candidate approved for clinical trials in the next two to three years. This could allow a successful heart transplant.

The discovery of this molecule can prevent long-term damage from a heart attack, stroke or other life-threatening conditions. It can also increase the distance a heart can be transported when transplanted.
