Why Do I Hate Rats?

Rats have a bad reputation and are often associated with disgusting odors, meanness, and dirty homes. As such, many people are terrified of the creatures. However, it’s important to understand that domestic rats are nothing like the wild ones. Their body structure, eating habits, and lifestyles are completely different.

Squirrels may carry a variety of diseases, but they don’t transmit them to humans as effectively as rats do. The reason that rats are so hated is not always clear-cut. Rats are more common in cities than in wooded areas, and they can invade your home and wreak havoc in your attic.

Rats are intelligent creatures with highly developed senses. They can jump, climb, and swim. Their sense of smell is incredibly sensitive. They use smell to find food and communicate with other rats. While rats cannot see, their keen sense of smell allows them to hunt through a multitude of environments without being detected by their predators.

Some people have a fear of rats, but many people love them as pets. Even Mickey Mouse likes rodents and many children keep cuddly rodents as pets. Although most people have only heard of the destructive qualities of rats, these critters are actually incredibly intelligent and lovable. Some species even pollinate plants, which makes them the perfect pets.
