How Do Mice Turn Into Rats?
Although they may have similar appearances, mice and rats are two very different species. Although they share similar habits and lifestyles, the two are genetically separate and cannot cross breed. To compare them is like comparing a house cat to a mountain lion. It is impossible to say which species is more dangerous to humans.
Rats are larger and have thicker fur than mice. Rats have a tail that is more than half an inch long. A mouse’s tail measures a quarter-inch long, and its body is about three to four inches long. It is the tail that differentiates the two species.
Rats are nocturnal creatures. They only leave their nests at night and are very clever at hiding. This allows them to multiply in large numbers without humans even knowing it. Although rats are more fearful than mice, they can adapt to a new environment and routine very quickly. Therefore, it is important to catch the animals early so that you can control the problem before it gets out of hand.
Rats have large heads and blunt faces, and large, wide noses. This means that they can’t see people. This is why people who see mice often think that they are rats. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re there. It’s not uncommon for a mouse to leave behind some partially-eaten food, but a rat can eat much more.
