Will Bleach Kill Fruit Flies?
Using a bleach solution can be a great way to eliminate fruit flies. However, you must make sure that you follow the instructions on the container label and that you follow proper ventilation and trash can disposal procedures. Bleach is an effective solution for destroying fruit flies, but it will not kill all flies. If the bleach solution does not work, consider using another solution, such as dish soap. Dish soap is an excellent repellent because it cuts surface tension and causes flies to sink to the bottom. If you do not have access to apple cider vinegar, consider using white vinegar mixed with sugar. This will give you an effective solution that will last for up to 14 days.
Bleach is also not very effective when it comes to dissolving drain gunk. Fruit flies tend to burrow into the gunk, so even if you spray the drain with bleach, they will come back. If you have a fruit fly problem, you may want to try mixing a little bleach with water and pouring it down the drain. However, you should not mix the solution with other chemicals to avoid the risk of affecting your plumbing.
A 50-50 mix of hot water and bleach is another effective solution. This mixture will kill fruit flies as well as their eggs. However, this method will not kill any fruit flies that are already present. You can also try a mixture of vinegar and water. Afterwards, you can use a homemade trap to catch any remaining flies.
