Where flies don’t land is a wonderful read for kids who love flies and the environment. The characters are very likeable and the plot is simple. The story follows Doug and his family as they live in poverty. Doug struggles to learn to read and draw because his life is hardly supported by his parents. Fortunately, he meets a librarian who teaches him about the beautiful paintings of birds by Audubon. His journey becomes a triumph, as he learns to read and draw.
