What Flies in the Thermosphere?
There are two layers of the Earth’s atmosphere: the troposphere and the thermosphere. The troposphere is the lowest layer, about 3,000 miles high, and the thermosphere is higher, about 600 km. The thermosphere is the place where satellites and aircraft fly, and it is the place where the ozone layer is located.
The thermosphere is one of the higher layers in the atmosphere, but it is too thin for humans or planes to fly through. It is also cold enough to cause the Northern Lights to appear, and it’s the place where the International Space Station is currently based. This is the part of Earth’s atmosphere where most of the Earth’s satellites live, and it’s also the place where the Earth’s atmosphere meets the outer space.
A plane can fly through the mesosphere, the lower atmosphere. This layer contains water vapor and other gases that are not absorbed by sunlight. This is the reason that aeroplanes don’t fly through the troposphere. However, some people believe that the moon is in the thermosphere.
Temperatures in the thermosphere can range from 0 degC to 1700 degC. The temperature is higher during the day.
