How to Get Rid of Fruit Flies
Fruit flies are a real nuisance. It seems like they come out of nowhere. You swat at them and jerk your arms like a seizure, trying to scare them off. But to no avail. It’s time to get rid of fruit flies.
One of the first steps to getting rid of fruit flies is to find the source of the infestation. Sometimes, fruit flies are attracted to rotting food. Keeping them away from food is essential, but sometimes, a jar of homemade preserves is to blame. If you can’t find the source, you can buy store-bought products. Sticky paper and non-toxic fruit fly traps can help. However, there are stronger solutions that will kill fruit flies and their eggs.
Another cause of fruit flies is animal feces. These insects can contaminate water and soil for long periods of time. And because fruit flies feed on animal droppings, they will bury themselves into the tainted soil. And once they emerge, they are already carrying the bacteria and germs they have picked up along the way.
If the fruit flies keep coming back, you should clean your house to get rid of them. Try to clean off any crumbs and food bits that may have landed on the floor or on the counter. Scrub counters thoroughly, and make sure to clean any areas that you usually overlook. If the fruit flies are persistent, you might have to apply a bit of elbow grease to remove all their food sources.
