Can Fleas Be Invisible to the Naked Eye?
Fleas are not invisible to the naked eye. They are flat, brown insects that feed on blood. The adult fleas have six legs and can jump as high as 30 cm. Dog fleas, scientifically called Ctenocephalides canis, live in dogs, but can also infest humans. They have a life cycle that takes two to three weeks in a healthy environment.
Although they can’t be seen, fleas and ticks can cause extreme itching. You can’t see them, but you can definitely feel them when they’re crawling on your skin or clothing. They can also bite your hair, nose, eyes, and ears. They can make you itch so bad that you may even try to scratch them off.
Adult fleas are only an eighth of an inch long, but they’re very hard to spot. Fleas hide behind the fur of dogs. The best way to spot fleas on your dog is to use a magnifying glass. The reddish-brown color of the fur makes it difficult to see them without a magnifying glass.
Fortunately, there are several ways to treat no-see-ums. Besides applying insecticides to your home or car, you can also treat your house with Diatomaceous Earth and essential oils. These two methods can help you avoid them from entering your house and cause a lot of annoyance. But the best way to prevent them from getting inside is to maintain proper hygiene.
