How Do Cockroach Eggs Look?
Cockroach eggs are small capsules that are brown, tan, or black in color. Female cockroaches lay their eggs in hidden places such as cracks and crevices. These eggs are then carried by the female cockroach until it hatches. Pesticides that kill cockroaches can also kill their eggs.
Cockroach eggs have a small ridge running along their length called the keel. This keel is the weak point in the egg case and allows the nymphs to suck in air to grow larger. This causes the egg case to expand, making it look full. Once the nymphs have left, the keel closes again.
Cockroach eggs are not as visible as live roaches, but they can be an indicator that you may have a cockroach infestation. A single female cockroach will lay anywhere from 13 to 40 eggs in an egg case. As such, if you notice a lot of them, you should contact a pest control company as soon as possible.
Female cockroaches lay eggs about every six to eight weeks. The eggs are contained in an egg case known as the ootheca. During this process, a female roach will release a pheromone that attracts a male cockroach. Male cockroaches then compete for available females.
