Do Bed Bugs Die When Squished?

Bed bugs do not die when they are squished. They actually expand in the back to feed. They can expand up to three times their original size. This makes the rear section of their body soft and flexible. As a result, they are easily squished. If you do find bedbugs in your home, here are some tips to get rid of them.

The first tip for killing bedbugs is to wash them. The bugs like to hide in laundry containers. Also, heat treatment can kill the bugs. The temperature must be at least 45 degrees Celsius to kill them. However, if you are worried about your health, you can try using an anti-bedbug spray.

Another way to kill bed bugs is to remove their eggs. Eggs are normally white or near-white. If the color of the eggs changes, that is not a good sign. It may just be a result of their genetic makeup. To determine if your home has these eggs, you should first pull apart any upholstered furniture and remove all cushion covers. Look for small, flat, oval-shaped bodies with two antennae.

If you do manage to kill the bugs, make sure you do so outside and in a location that is not stained by blood. A dead bug may produce an unpleasant odor.
