Where Do Wasps Play?
Historically, Wasps have played in Coventry and Wycombe. They have been suspended from the Gallagher Premiership rugby league this season after being placed in administration. Their fans will now have to travel to Coventry, which is 200 miles round trip, to watch them play. The club is also in Leicester Tigers territory, which is a problem for them.
The move also means Wasps will not be playing in the London Irish Clubs territory. These clubs were established in the late 1800s. Their ground is the London Olympic Stadium.
Wasps have played at the stadium since 2002. However, they had a home at Sudbury for several years. They won the Gold Wasp trophy there. They also won the Middlesex Cup. They had a good season in 1875-76. They lost the home quarter final to Gloucester. They won 14 games.
Wasps also played in the Far East in 1977, led by Mark Taylor. They beat Newport 9-3, but lost the home quarter-final to Gloucester. Their only player to stay on after the tour was Mark Taylor. He capped eight times for New Zealand.
Wasps also toured Canada in the summer of 1977. They won all seven games. The team included former Wasp Russ Tulloch. They also welcomed the BATS team from San Francisco.
Wasps are now in a position to reach the European Rugby Champions Cup, which is the best club competition in Europe. They have a schedule in May. They face Saracens in the final in Lyon.
