Where Do Wasps Go in the Winter?

During the winter, wasps are prone to die off. They may be killed by cold weather, or they may die of starvation. In fact, it is believed that only select female wasps survive the winter.

These females are the ones who will become queens in the spring. They seek out a warm, protected place to hibernate in the winter. In addition, these females will lay eggs, which will become the next generation of queens. The eggs hatch into larvae, which eat protein-rich insects.

The main goal of a wasp colony is to ensure that the queen is safe and alive. If the queen dies, then the colony will die. If the queen survives, then the colony will continue to survive.

When the weather starts to get warm, the queen wasps begin building a new nest. They may build the nest inside a home or in a shed. The nest will consist of several cells, each filled with eggs. The queen will lay as many eggs as the nest cells are occupied.

The last eggs to hatch become the fertile females. The fertile females begin building the nest cells, and initiate the first workers. They also take over the feeding process.

In the spring, the queen wasps are searching for a new nesting site. They may choose to build a new nest on top of the original. This is because the original nest is not being used by the new queens.
