How to Keep Wasps Out of Your AC Unit

During the spring, wasps build nests and begin to nest in your air conditioning system. Wasps are known to build nests in air conditioning ducts, vents, and in wooden surfaces. They prefer dark, damp, and warm environments. They can enter your home through air vents, open windows, and open doors. They are especially active during the spring and summer.

To help keep wasps from getting inside your home, try sealing any crevices or holes where they may be able to enter. Also, keep your air conditioning ducts and vents sealed. This will prevent wasps from entering your home and damaging your AC system.

You may also want to place water traps near your air conditioning system. These traps can be made by filling a glass jar with warm water, a sweet substance, and a thimble of liquid dish soap. Hang these traps on the ceiling or near your air conditioner. Ideally, you want to empty the traps daily.

If you don’t have a water trap available, you can purchase one at a home improvement store. You can also create a wasp trap yourself. Simply fill a small jar with water, a thimble of liquid dish detergent, and a few drops of sweet substance. You can also place a plastic bag on the vent. You can also hang a screen or paper towels over the vent to keep wasps from getting into it.
