Did You Know That Wasps Do Not Sleep at Night?
Unlike humans, wasps do not sleep during the night. Instead, they are a lot more active during the day. During the day, they are busy building their nest, feeding their larvae, and tending to their young.
They are also sensitive to changes in light. Some of them are even able to see in the dark. These nocturnal wasps have ocelli (the visual organs on their heads) that allow them to see during the night.
One of the most impressive things about wasps is their ability to repair their nest. It’s actually possible to see the process happening from a distance of several feet. Wasps will use the fibers from their nest to repair the damaged parts.
They are also able to make a lot of noise at night. This can be useful when it comes to defending their nest. If you are worried about wasps in your home, you should close your windows when it is dark and use a motion sensor.
A few wasp species are nocturnal, including the Central American Paper Wasp, but most are diurnal. Diurnal wasps are the most active. They spend most of their day foraging for food and tending to their nests. They will return to their nests at night.
The Blue Mud Wasp, a parasitic wasp, actually kills Black Widow Spiders at night. They are also very efficient at performing their duties around their nest.
There are a few different kinds of nocturnal wasps, but most have ocelli that allow them to see at night. Some nocturnal wasps have also evolved to adapt to changes in climate.
