Is Termites Can Fly?
If you have a termite infestation, you may be wondering, “is termites can fly?” Termites can only fly for a short time. They will then fall back to the ground and begin to build a new colony.
During this time, the swarmer termites will begin to search for a good spot to form a new colony. This will usually occur during the day. Swarmers are very slow fliers and often die when they land on hot surfaces.
When you see flying termites, they have two large wings that are translucent. They are also curved. The front wing is larger than the back.
The wings are also slightly milky. Termites can be as much as three centimetres long on each wing. They have a thin waist and a thick body. They are light gold in colour and have a veiny appearance.
If you see a termite swarm, you should first check for a dark-veined wing around the door, window, or other openings. You will also want to cover the door or window with curtains or blinds to prevent sunlight from getting in.
If you find a swarmer, you should take it to your local cooperative extension center to be identified. Then, you can take it to a pest control company to have it treated.
If you don’t know where a termite swarmer came from, you may need to consider exterminating the colony. This will prevent the swarmers from re-entering your home.
