How Small Are Flying Termites?

They’re usually light in color. During their reproductive phase, they leave their nests to find mates. They’ll lay a few hundred eggs in the first year, and they’ll keep doing so as they grow. Eventually, the female will mate with a male, and the pair will leave to establish a colony.
Once a pair has mated, the termites will lose their wings. They’ll then begin feeding. They can live for more than a decade. They eat cellulose, which is found in wood. They’re also attracted to light, so they swarm when they see a source of light.
When you see termites flying, the best thing to do is to turn off your exterior lighting. You’ll also want to use blinds or curtains to block out any extra light. If you’re concerned about the health of your home, you may want to try using salt water on your floors. The high salt content can kill fleas and other flea-like insects.
When a colony of termites starts to grow, they’ll create a swarm. The swarm will start to emerge in large numbers when it gets warm enough. It’s a sign that they’re ready to establish a new colony. They can also be confused for ants.
