How Hard is it to Treat Termites?
Termites are insects that feed on wood, including the insides of your house. They can be found in many places, such as the attic, the foundation, or even the ground. If you suspect you have a problem, take the following steps to get rid of them.
The first thing you should do is to look at the inside of your home. Look for signs of termites, like fecal pellets. If you see them, they are likely a sign of an infestation.
If you find a termite colony in your home, it will likely need fumigation. These treatments work by destroying the termite population. They can take up to 72 hours to complete.
If you can’t afford to have your home fumigated, you can try a heat treatment. This method uses heaters to heat the wood to a high enough temperature to kill the insects.
Another option is a liquid barrier treatment. This can be expensive and time-consuming, but it is effective. This treatment requires hundreds of gallons of solution.
A more simple solution is to use a cardboard trap. Cut two pieces of cardboard to fit the size of the termite nest and place them near the infested area. If you can’t get rid of all the termites, they will just get stuck in the trap.
You can also spray essential oils onto the infested areas. The oils inhibit the termite’s ability to shed its skin and lay eggs.
Boric acid is also used to control termites. It can be sprayed into cracks or holes in the wall. It works by dehydrating the termites and shutting down their nervous systems. It is considered to be less toxic than stronger insecticides.
