How Hard is it to Kill Termites?

Termites are pests that can destroy the structural integrity of your home. They are often found in the ground and in crevices in the walls. They are able to eat through wood, wallpaper and flooring. In most cases, damage to your house doesn’t become apparent until you discover the problems.

There are several methods to remove termites from your home. If you have a large infestation, you may need to hire an exterminator. You can also use organic or chemical treatments. The key is to get rid of the colony at the root. This can be done by drilling holes and filling them with termiticide.

Another method is to use heat treatment. This is a less expensive and less time consuming method. You will need to heat the area to a minimum of 120 degrees Fahrenheit for 33 minutes.

You can also treat your home with boric acid. This is a natural and less toxic insecticide. It can be sprayed or applied directly to wood surfaces. Before applying, you must wear a dust mask and protective eyewear.

Bait systems are another popular method. These are less expensive and easier to use than liquid treatments. In conjunction with a liquid treatment, baits can eliminate a termite colony completely.

Termite baits work by attracting foraging termites. These termites then spread the poison throughout the colony. If the queen dies, a new colony will begin.

In addition to using baits, you can also use essential oils. These can be sprayed on infested wood. They will slowly kill the termites.
