Do Termites With Wings Eat Wood?

Termites are insects that are usually found in wood. They are classified into two groups depending on the stage of their life cycle. Among them, swarmers are the only termites that have wings. These winged pests are the queens and kings of the colony. They are also called reproductives.

Swarmers leave their nests in large numbers in the spring. They are attracted to light. In a short time, they assemble a new colony. During the process, some of the swarmers die. The rest continue to live. The swarmers then start forming new colonies.

Termite wings are similar to bees’ wings. They have very few veins and are translucent. They are about three centimetres long. The front pair of wings is larger than the hind pair.

Termite wings may also have multiple veins. They are often milky colored. These wings are not used for flying, but are used when creating new colonies.

Termites can only fly for a short time. They usually only fly for a few minutes. However, they will find their way into your home. They can cause significant damage to your wood. If you notice that you have a swarm of termites, you should take steps to prevent them from entering your house.

You should also make sure that all of the doors and windows are open. If you have any kind of lights on inside your home, you should turn them off. This will decrease the amount of light that is allowing the termites to enter. If you are not able to do this, you may need to hire a pest control service to help you.
