If you suspect that your home is infested with termites, call a professional to inspect your home. Your local cooperative extension service can give you information about pesticide regulations in your state.

One of the first things to look for is hollow beams. Termites will hollow out any structure that contains cellulose, which is the material in the wood that they’re eating.

Another sign that your house is infested with termites is a termite swarm. These insects can fly around your home at night and can cause serious structural damage. If you see a large number of them, you should consider hiring a professional.
