Why is Spider Man Not on Disney Plus?
If you are looking to stream Spider Man, you will be disappointed to know that Disney Plus isn’t streaming any of his movies. That’s because Sony owns the film rights to Spider-Man and other Marvel characters. However, Sony and Disney reached a six-year deal in April. This new deal is set to make the popular character available to fans in the US.
While Disney Plus is already home to the iconic Spider-Man animated series, there aren’t any standalone Spidey movies on the service. That doesn’t mean they won’t eventually make their way to the platform. Rather, the movies will have to stream on Netflix first.
Until then, you’ll have to look for movies that are currently available on Netflix. Some of the Marvel films that are streaming on the platform include Avengers: Endgame, Avengers: Infinity War, Captain America: Civil War, and Guardians of the Galaxy. All of these movies feature Tom Holland’s webslinger.
In addition to the films that are currently available on Netflix, the next group of Marvel films will be coming to the platform in 2021. That’s when new MCU limited series will also be arriving. That’s all part of Sony’s agreement with Marvel.
While Netflix and Disney will have access to many Sony Marvel properties after 2022, there are still some notable titles that won’t be making it to Disney Plus. One of the biggest missing titles is The Incredible Hulk, starring Edward Norton. While it’s not an essential entry for casual viewers, it was co-produced by Marvel Studios.
