What is a Tarantulas Spiders
Tarantulas are large spiders that are found all over the world. They are nocturnal and live in burrows underground. They feed on insects and other small animals. They also spin webs for mating purposes. They are not dangerous to humans. But they can cause severe allergic reactions in some people.
To find their food, tarantulas are sensitive to vibrations picked up by their legs. When they sense a predator, they raise their front legs high into the air. This makes them appear larger. Then they flick thousands of hairs toward the threat. If they cannot find their prey, they will move away quickly.
If they find their prey, they will inject venom into it. They will do this to paralyze the animal. Often they will fling hairs back at the pursuing animal. In some species, they even pounce on their prey.
Despite their large size, tarantulas are not particularly dangerous to humans. Although they can be a source of pain when bitten, their bites are not likely to cause death. In fact, if they are bitten by a human, they are more likely to run away.
If a tarantula is threatened, it will usually raise its front legs and try to slap the intruder. This posture, called a “threat posture,” signals that they are about to attack. They will then rear up and show off their fangs.
These attacks are usually only seen when someone is handling the tarantula. However, if they are bitten, the victim may have a severe allergic reaction. This may cause muscle spasms and redness and swelling that extends beyond the bite area. The treatment is similar to that of a bee sting.
