What Are Spiders Good For?
In most people’s minds, spiders are creatures of horror. However, spiders have many other uses. They serve as biological controllers of pests. And spiders have also helped in scientific research.
Some species actively guard young. Spiders are important in limiting the spread of disease. Another important use is in providing food for birds, lizards and turtles.
The best way to avoid having spiders is to keep your house clean and free of debris. Also, make sure your windows and doors are closed.
If you do not have a vacuum or a good vacuum cleaner, you can place sticky traps inside to catch the spiders. Alternatively, you can leave a room open for a few hours to let the spiders find their own way.
Although most spiders are not dangerous, you should not be squeamish when handling them. Taking care is especially important when it comes to dealing with venomous spiders. You should also be careful when brushing against spiders’ hiding places.
There are two main types of spiders you’ll encounter in your home. One type is a large, blotchy, colorful spider called an orb-weaver. These spiders use their web to hunt. Their eyesight is poor, and they are not very aggressive.
Another type of spider is the funnel-weaver, which creates a sheet of webbing over an object. At one end of the webbing is a funnel. This funnel acts as a lure for prey.
Finally, there are tiny, hidden spiders that you might not even realize you have. These spiders are often found in hard to reach corners of your home.
